OVERVIEW OF THREE-LEGGED RACE
The three-legged race is a classic game that is played in many different types of outdoor events, such as at 4th of July parties. This is a great game for team-building as well. This race involves a lot of coordination and communication between the partners, and it is a lot more difficult than it looks at first glance!
SETUP
Designate a start line and a finish line on a field. Mark these lines with a string or an object so that it is clear to all players where the lines are. Divide all the children into pairs. One child’s left leg and the other child’s right leg must be tied together using a band, string, ribbon, or velcro.
Have all pairs stand behind the start line to get started.
GAMEPLAY
The three-legged race starts at the signal. Each pair must coordinate with their partner to get to the finish line faster than the other pairs. They can run, jump, or skip to get to the end, trying to avoid tripping over.
END OF GAME
The pair that passes the finish line first wins the game!
