TYPE OF GAME: Camping game
AUDIENCE: 5+
OVERVIEW OF IN THE NATURE OF THE ADVERB
This is a fun game that sparks creativity and can be pretty hilarious at times. In the nature of the adverb is a unique way to practice vocabulary with kids while still allowing the adults to have some fun! This is the perfect camping game or educational back to school game.
SETUP
You don’t need much to play in the nature of the adverb besides your brain and a decent-sized area for the game. All of the players stand in a circle and one player is chosen to be the “guesser”. The guesser leaves the circle and walks far enough away so that they cannot hear what the other players are saying.
GAMEPLAY
The players in the circle will decide on the adverb that the guesser will have to guess. Once they have decided on the adverb, the guesser will be called back to the circle and then will proceed to call on players to perform an action “in the nature of the adverb”.
For example, if the adverb is “lazily”, and the guesser asks a player to “do pushups in the nature of the adverb”, the player may slowly do pushups or complain about it saying “I don’t feel like it”.
Once the action has been performed in the nature of the adverb, the guesser can either guess the adverb or call on another player to do another action. The guesser can call on as many players as they wish, but they are only allowed 3 guesses before the adverb is revealed and a new game starts.
END OF GAME
If the guesser guesses the adverb correctly, the last player to do an action “in the nature of the adverb” is sent away as the new guesser. If the guesser guesses wrongly 3 times, the guesser chooses who will guess the adverb next.
